While on my revelife account for the first time in a while I stumbled upon the recently featured blog post about BDSM: Sin or not? In my response I brought up Bob Flanagan. For those who don't know, here is the quick run down. Bob has cystic fibrosis, bad. He is going to die. With his partner he lets himself become submissive. He is tied up, cut, hit... among other things, all causing him physical pain. Bob essentially rewired his system so that when he experienced this pain, he felt pleasure. This allowed him to live much longer than estimated. Much, much longer. He reached some sort of higher brain functioning, so to speak. He was able to control his pain, and more than that, he was able to feel pleasure from it.
In this I may not see religion in particular but I do see spirituality. Would people of any religion look kindly upon someone who used sexual domination and submission in order to live longer and to reach this place where they felt no pain?

nice! good way to give people a point to think about. I mean he lived a longer happier life because of his efforts which involved BDSM so how can that be a thing?
